19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard surfaces
A resurgent Medvedev claimed his initial championship for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The athlete, a ex- number one, has had a difficult year, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - caused him falling of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-term mentor his previous coach.
Now training with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.
This marks his first trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt after spring of 2023.
Victory also indicates he has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one different events.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my two daughters together, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, comprising in that event earlier this year.
His counter-punching strategy and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had led commentators to doubt if his skill to compete at the top level was over.
However the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and play assertively, reinforced by an improved service.
Medvedev came back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.
The competitors exchanged breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial professional championship, seized the initiative to force a decider.
Moutet saved four early opportunities in a tight deciding set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.
Appropriately, Medvedev earned the win with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
